Krk

Krk is located on the southwest coast by the Krk’s bay. Medieval, bastioned town was growing up fast also behind the walls, so it including harbor, beaches, campgrounds and hotels. Strengths defenses (from 12th century), which is preserve to present, is getting medieval look.

The really interest points are set of streets around roman’s cathedral and the castle from 15th century. Cathedral of St. Marian were built between 13th and 16th century. There are beautiful Roman’s and Romance’s pillars. Romance’s basilica St. Quirina is next to cathedral and has big sculptural decoration and Reminds of wall’s paintings. The collection of Italian painters from 16th and 17th century and the silver altar’s portrait of Madonna from year 1477 are possible to see in the museum. Another interest point is Fortis’s gallery with little collection located on the Vrizeca’s street 1. In the gallery Decumanus (Gupca’s street) is presentation of present Croatian arts.

The main beach is in the Drazdica bay – 1km from Krk – little pebbles and pine’s grove. Krk offer great possibilities of yachting, water skiing, fishing, diving. During the summer, many artists and ensembles come to Krk. (concerts, theatre and opera shows)
